This story involves a board game, but I won't be teaching the game. It also involves a mobile web app, but I won't be teaching programming.

What I will be telling you about is my unexpected journey into developing an app under contract for a game publisher. I will tell you how the project came about, how the deadline, price, confidentiality and other terms were set, and what the side-effects were.

Matt Crawford, Mensa member since 1990, retired from the world of physics, large-scale data storage, global networking, and project management to lead a life of contemplation, travel, and gaming. The board gaming world pulled him back again to do something for pay that he would have done for free!

[p]Chicago Area Mensa’s Regional Gathering (RG) HalloweeM is being held at the Westin North Shore Hotel. This is a large (about 500 attendees), fun, family-friendly event. Drinks, snacks, and most meals are included. There are games, tournaments, dances, and a multi-track program as well as the infamous Costume Contest on Friday and both Pretentious Drinking and the Epicurean Experience on Saturday.
